This memoir is an account of my real-life adventures when I arrived at Lightning Ridge in 1971 as a 17-year-old. 'The Ridge' as it is affectionately known is a mining town in outback NSW, Australia, and is home to unique black opal. Here I made some great friends but also encountered my share of unscrupulous scoundrels.
