You are one important cell of humanity currently moving this planet forward.
When I checked the global population today on Worldometers.info, I found it stands at 7,714,576,923 – that’s 7.7 billion people. In terms of net gain (360,000 births minus 150,000 deaths), we are adding over 210,000 people to this planet every day. We only reached our first billion milestone a little over 200 years ago, and I was just 7 years old when we hit the 3 billion mark in 1960. About 100 billion people have lived on Earth throughout history.
Scientists have said that the maximum the Earth can stand is between 9 to 10 billion people at one time, and we will reach that target within 2 decades from now, as we are adding more than a billion every 12 years (or less). At 10 billion, we would need to stop eating animals and use all our farming land to produce fruit and vegetables. But there are many who think we are doomed to destroy civilization by famine, with dwindling supplies of food, water and clean air to breathe.
"The power of population is so superior to the power of the Earth to produce subsistence for man, that premature death must in some shape or other visit the human race." The late-18th century philosopher Thomas Malthus wrote these ominous words in an essay on what he saw as the dire future of humanity. Humans' unquenchable urge to reproduce, Malthus argued, would ultimately lead us to overpopulate the planet, eat up all its resources and die in a mass famine.
So, do you sometimes feel insignificant, as if whatever you do does not matter in the greater scheme of things? You will have heard many times that “we are all connected” but our brains do not register this truth via our 5 senses. We need to connect with our higher mind. One blogger this week posed the question: “Do you think a single drop of water feels responsible for the flood? Or Do you think a single snowflake feels responsible for the avalanche? Individually, we may not feel responsible for the world, but we are.”
And you could also ponder the question that if a person has a full and rewarding life, having great experiences and gaining lots of knowledge, does it all go to waste as soon as they die? No! It is all added to the collective experience of humanity. Each of us adds to the human existence, in however small a way. It all gets recorded in the Akasha! (Refer to last week’s bulletin about the Akashic Sphere).

These days, mainly due to the influence of Theosophy, the word Akasha has been popularized as an adjective, through the use of the term "Akashic records" or "Akashic library", referring to an etheric compendium of all knowledge and history. However, there is growing acceptance of the word Akasha in its original form as a noun, describing the Cosmic field that used to be referred to as the Void.
Traditionally, Akasha was a term for either space or æther, depending on the region of the world and religious background of its people. In Hindustani, Nepali, Bengali, and Tamil it means "sky". In many modern Indo-Aryan languages and Dravidian languages, the corresponding word (often rendered Akash) also retains a generic meaning of "sky". It is instructive, therefore, to picture the Akasha as a field or sphere surrounding the Earth, corresponding with the Stratosphere.
Ervin László in Science and the Akashic Field: An Integral Theory of Everything (2004), based on ideas by Rudolf Steiner, posits "a field of information" as the substance of the Cosmos, which he calls "Akashic field" or "A-field". Scott Cunningham (1995) uses the term Akasha to refer to "the spiritual force that Earth, Air, Fire, and Water descend from". So, we can see a correspondence with the term Noosphere, which we examined in a previous bulletin, however the Akasha is more pervasive throughout the Cosmos than the Noosphere – it just happens to gather energetically as a sphere around our planet, magnetised by human consciousness.
In Vedantic Hinduism, Akasha means the basis and essence of all things in the material world - the first element created. Hindu philosophy states that Akasha or aether is the fifth physical substance, which is the substratum of the quality of sound. It can be translated as "upper sky" or “space”. It is the One, Eternal, and All-Pervading physical substance, which is imperceptible. First appeared the space, from which appeared air, from that fire or energy, from which the water, and therefrom the earth.

When discussing spheres, we have looked at the Heliosphere and all within it: the Sun, planets and moons; also the unseen spheres that surround celestial bodies. Naturally the Earth itself is one of the most influential spheres in our lives. In addition to the lifeforms (including humans) that dwell on our planet’s surface, there are discarnate entities above us, often around non-material formations such as Mount Meru, that are not within the EM wavelength of our sight.
And what about inside the Earth? Christians have said that is where Hell is – the Book of Enoch tells how fallen Angels were cast into its depths, and some forms of Buddhism have stated that “Ghosts live in a world located five hundred leagues beneath the surface of the Earth” (from The Norton Anthology of World Religions, Jack Miles. 2015 W. W. Norton & Co).
Elsewhere on this site I have written about the massive network of subterranean tunnels running around the world, and whole underground cities. Some of them are closer to the surface and were abandoned millennia ago, to be rediscovered by present-day archaeologists. But there are many more remaining in use, deeper down, complete with underground lakes of fresh water and food crops.
In the video below, the host is worried about possible catastrophe to be caused by the Sun – that is something that I am not worried about, but nevertheless, he gives a good outline of some of the subterranean areas we do know about.
