Recently I have been writing about the ‘miracles of the Sun’ witnessed by tens of thousands of people in the USA, Bosnia, Portugal and Spain. There is another prominent location where this occurs - at the Divine Mercy Shrine, which is located in Divine Mercy Hills, El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. At the initial gathering on what has become known as Divine Mercy Sunday, in April 2001, a rainbow first appeared over the head of statue of Jesus and along with an inexplicable phenomenon – more than 10,000 attendees witnessed an astonishing solar event that took place and continues to occur on subsequent Feast Days of the Divine Mercy. It is seen with the naked eye - the Sun's changing forms and colour. The Sun is said to look like an opaque disk that is ‘spinning like a pinwheel in the sky.’ This miraculously claimed phenomenon is considered by the religious (Christian) Filipino population to be a ‘divine and supernatural manifestation.’

One website which incorporates a video of the event reports that, “The clouds broke, and from behind the mountains, the Sun came out as an opaque disc in the sky. The Sun danced, changed colours, spun like a pinwheel, and made a most sensational demonstration.”[1]

I am uncertain why these events are always linked with the Virgin Mary – is it because of the Catholic predisposition of the host countries, or is something more going on? I will continue to investigate the various reports from different locations as we approach the 100 year anniversary of Fatima next year.

Last week I wrote about witnesses who have experienced the Sun spinning and flickering in strange ways at Medjugorje in Bosnia, eerily replicating the events at Fatima ninety-nine years ago. There is another case of similar occurrences in the town of Conyers, Georgia, USA, where according to a New York Times report in 1998, “Worshipers pray and sing, and aim their camcorders at the sky, hoping to record the flickering of the Sun or perhaps the opening of the door to heaven.[1]”  At the centre of it all is a middle-aged mother, Nancy Fowler, and she – like others where such happenings occur - also claims to communicate with the Virgin Mary.

At noon on the thirteenth day of every month, thousands of people who have come from all parts of the world, gather at Conyers to watch the event. They report that the Sun becomes pure white light and that a smaller white disc sometimes circles it.  The solar disc also “blinks.”  It is said that on some occasions golden powder or rose petals fall from the sky.

Video of the solar phenomenon has been caught on camera – concurring with what witnesses say they actually see. This one, for example, runs for seven and a half minutes… for the solar event, see minutes 2:00 to 3:30:

Mrs Fowler says that Mary tells her to warn us about an impending war with China. Maybe that is the third mysterious secret of Fatima that has been hushed up by the Vatican? As always, I find the visible actions of the Sun to be of greatest interest.

Medjugorje is a town located in the Herzegovina region of Bosnia and Herzegovina, close to the border of Croatia. On the 24th June 1981 the town experienced something akin to Fatima, with the Sun dancing in the sky and six children claiming to have received a message delivered from the Virgin Mary. The messages attributed to ‘Our Lady of Medjugorje’ have a strong following worldwide – they are still being received up to the present day, and a number of websites record the messages, for example: http://www.medjugorje.ws/  The town has become one of the most popular pilgrimage sites for Catholics in the world and each year more than 1 million people visit. It has been estimated that 30 million pilgrims have come to Medjugorje since the 1981 event.

Many attendees have reported visual phenomena including the Sun spinning in the sky, flickering and strobing or changing colour, with figures such as hearts and crosses circling around the solar disc. A lot of witnesses say they are able to look directly at the shining orb without suffering eye damage. Jesuit Father Robert Faricy has written about his own experience of such phenomena, saying, "Yet I have seen rosaries which have changed colour, and I have looked directly at the Sun in Medjugorje and have seen it seem to spin and turn different colours. It would be easier to report that it is just hysteria except that I would then have to accuse myself of being hysterical, which I was not and am not."

Many people have recorded the strange solar events on camera and these can be found on You Tube. One such example is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHk_Ucw5vHQ
Of course there those who claim that the pictures have been tampered with, but then how do the images happen to concur with what thousands of eye-witnesses are saying they are seeing? In coming weeks I will post information about similar happenings going on with the Sun in America and the Philippines.

This week we had the solstice – winter here in the southern hemisphere and summer in the north – with a full moon on the same day. From television news items and google searches I find so many different statements about the regularity of this: some say it happens every 19 years, others say the last was in 1948 and others that the last was in 1967; some say the next will be in 40 years and others, 60 years. While there is no evidence of any major historical occurrences coinciding with such events, many people like to celebrate them, especially at ancient megalithic sites.

My own findings about the correlation between solar and lunar activity pinpoint the significance as being in the rotations of the Sun and the Moon… the iron core of the Sun rotates once every 27.3 days, the same as the rotation of the moon. However, from the point of view of the observer here on Earth, that appears to take 28 days, due to what is called the Synodic (as opposed to the Sidereal) period. And of course the moon also orbits the Earth in the same number of days. Human biorhythms also go in 28 day cycles, at least the main one, sometimes called the ‘Emotional cycle’ does. In my case, both my 28 day cycle and my 33 day Intellectual cycle were right at the uppermost point of the chart on 21st June, while my 23 day Physical day cycle was right at the bottom of the chart. Along with the solar impulse and full moon influence, I had quite a wrenching day. We are definitely aligned with the vibrations and frequency of these two great celestial bodies!

Among the yogis of India throughout the centuries there have been those adept in obtaining all their energy requirements from the Sun, while refraining from eating food. In his best-selling book Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda wrote of one such lady called Giri Bala and says to her, “Your nourishment is derived from the finer energies of the air and sunlight, and from the cosmic power that recharges your body through the medulla oblongata.” [Those ‘finer energies’ are the same that I refer to in my articles as Pneuma].

He predicts that, “Someday scientists will discover how man can live directly on solar energy,” comparing it to the way chlorophyll collects and stores the Sun’s energy in plants. He cites a speech made by Dr Geo. W Crile in the USA back in 1933 as follows: “This all important radiation, which releases electrical currents for the body’s electrical circuit, the nervous system, is given food by the Sun’s rays. Atoms, Dr Crile says, are solar systems. Atoms are the vehicles that are filled with solar radiance as so many coiled springs. These countless atomfuls of energy are taken in as food. Once in the human body, these tense vehicles, the atoms, are discharged in the body’s protoplasm, the radiance furnishing new chemical energy, new electrical currents. ‘Your body is made up of such atoms,’ Dr Crile said. ‘They are your muscles, brains, and sensory organs, such as the eyes and ears’.”[1]

Just as with looking at the Sun, I add the caveat that nobody should attempt these kinds of practices without the training and supervision of qualified teachers!

It is unfortunate that Nasa’s “Solar Probe Plus” mission got put back from 2015 to a 2018 launch, however once it gets going it will have been worth waiting for.  After doing seven fly-bys of Venus first, it will make its initial close approach to the Sun on 19th December 2024, getting within 8.5 solar radii, or less than 6 million km away (here on Earth we are 150 million km away).  And fittingly, the primary power source for the craft will be a dual system of photovoltaic arrays - in other words the energy of the Sun itself will drive it.  The primary objective is to answer two questions: Why is the Sun's atmosphere - the  corona - so much hotter than its visible surface, the photosphere? And how is the solar wind accelerated?

In pursuit of new scientific information, Solar Probe Plus will: determine the structure and dynamics of the magnetic fields at the sources of solar wind; trace the flow of energy that heats the corona and accelerates the solar wind; determine what mechanisms accelerate and transport energetic particles; and explore dusty plasma near the Sun and its influence on solar wind and energetic particle formation. The spacecraft will go close enough to the Sun to watch the solar wind speed up from subsonic to supersonic, and it will fly though the birthplace of the highest-energy solar particles.

Ultimately it will revolutionize our knowledge of the origin and evolution of the solar wind, which I believe carries not only visible particles but also the Pneuma – the very life force that vivifies us.

Back in January I reported, over on my other blog site, about the discovery of ‘Planet 9’ at the far edge of our Heliosphere (http://www.solarancestors.com/blog/-newsflash-planet-x-located-in-outer-solar-system-today ). Generally speaking, I confine my blogs to matters pertaining to our own Solar System, not celestial bodies outside it. The latest information by researchers at the Lund University in Sweden, based on computer simulation, suggests that Planet 9 is most likely an ‘exoplanet’ – meaning it originated outside of our Heliosphere. If the discovery proves correct, it will make this the first exoplanet found to be inside our home Solar System and, possibly, the only one we could ever reach by using a space probe.

According to the experts from Lund, the planet might have been ‘captured’ by our Sun in the distant past and remained undetected until now. It would be ironic that while astronomers are looking for exoplanets hundreds of light years away in other solar systems, there's probably one hiding in our own backyard. There is still no image of Planet 9, not even a point of light - we don't know if it is made up of rock, ice, or gas. All we know is that its mass is around ten times that of Earth.

As exciting as the discovery may be, it will take a lot more research to establish whether Planet 9 is indeed the first exoplanet found in our solar system - and what it is like. Stayed tuned!

One of the great adherents to the observation and veneration of the Sun was the Roman Emperor Hadrian.  When he restored the Pantheon in the second century AD, it conveyed a clear message to Roman citizens, echoing the assertion of Akhenaten almost fifteen hundred years before him: the Sun is the physical manifestation of our God.  A half-century earlier, Nero had set the pattern when he built an octagonal room with a dome, which was inspiration for the Pantheon.  He designed this dome with an ‘eye’ or oculus that used Sunlight to mark his important anniversaries on the walls.  Originally built by Marcus Agrippa, whose name is still shown on the triangular porch façade – the only remaining part of his effort - the Pantheon was destroyed in the fire of AD 80, restored, burned again thirty years later, and then was completely rebuilt between AD 118 and AD 128 by Hadrian.  It was he who completed the forty three metre wide dome, with its open hole or ‘oculus’ at top, which today remains the largest unsupported and unreinforced concrete dome in the world.

Visitors to the building could essentially tell time by observing the position of the shaft of light from the oculus, which crosses above or below the entry at noon.  Furthermore, the beam hovers directly above the door at the March and September equinoxes, both moments of ceremonial importance for ancient Romans because it was then that emperors -many of whom cultivated an association with the Sun deity - were considered closest to the heavens and gods.  The midday Sun on April 21 – the date commemorating the founding of Rome, as declared by Hadrian - spotlights anyone who stands in the open doorway of the Pantheon.  The emperor would have entered the Pantheon at that very moment each year, the bright halo around him acting as a striking confirmation of his divine power and the glory of Rome.  Emperors before Hadrian had focused their attention on the Sun, but it was Hadrian who demonstrated that he drew his authority from the solar source and could command in its name.  As with the Egyptian pharaohs, his subjects believed he controlled its influence here on Earth.

Since the nineteenth century a number of occultists have asserted that there is a Grand Central Sun at the centre of our galaxy – thousands, or some even say millions, of times larger than our Sun. The theory is that our solar system completes an orbit around this centre once every 26,000 years, and some have referred to it as being the star Alcyone in the Pleiades. More recently mainstream science has poured cold water on this claim by saying there is a black hole in the centre of our galaxy. Now of course on-one has ever seen a black hole, and it is difficult to peer into the centre of the Milky Way because we are situated well out on what is essentially a flat disc, embedded inside it, with bulky celestial matter blocking our line of sight. Admittedly it would be more comforting to think there would be a central source radiating light outwards, rather than unappealing and as yet unproven hole of darkness sucking everything in.

Plato is often quoted (or misquoted) on websites as putting forward the concept of a physical Central Sun. I would like to reiterate his position as I described it in my article The Eye of the Sun-Runner (http://www.solarancestor.com/the-eye-of-the-sunrunner.html ): He tabulates the ‘Simile of the Sun,[1]’ demonstrating that in the Visible World the Sun is the source of growth and light, granting us the faculty of sight and visibility to objects of sense, while in the Intelligible World the Sun-behind-the-sun is the source of reality and truth, granting us the faculty of knowledge and intelligibility to objects of the mind and thought. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks believed the sun we see is just the physical form of a higher ‘Intelligible or Spiritual Sun.’ Philo of Alexandria called it: “The Sun of the sun, the Intelligible object behind the object comprehensible by sense, and from invisible fountains he supplies the visible beams which our eyes behold[2]."

For spiritual seekers and those in the process of shifting to higher consciousness, it is important to focus on the invisible, ‘Intelligible’ Central Sun. Having said that I, for one, would be delighted to learn that there is a greater physical parent to our own Father Sun.

This past week has seen some remarkably beautiful Sunrises and Sunsets where I live in Queensland Australia. And once again the term ‘Green Flash’ has been mentioned on television. ‘Green Flashes’ and ‘Green Rays’ are optical phenomena that sometimes occur right after Sunset. When the conditions are right, a green spot is visible above the upper rim of the disc of the Sun. The green appearance usually lasts for no more than a second or two. Occasionally, the Green Flash can resemble a ray shooting upward from the point of Sunset. Green Flashes occur because our atmosphere refracts the light from the Sun.

These phenomena may be observed from any altitude and at any latitude; although at the equator the flash rarely lasts longer than a second. They are best seen at an unobstructed horizon, such as over the ocean, and are more likely to be seen in a still, clear sky when more of the light from the setting Sun reaches the observer without being scattered - in other words, a ‘boring’ Sunset. It might be expected that a blue flash would be more likely, since that is refracted more than the other colours, and the blue component of the Sun's light is the very last to disappear below the horizon - but it gets scattered and absorbed by particles in the atmosphere, with the remaining light ending up at the other end of the spectrum – yellow, orange and red. With slight magnification, a green rim on the top of the Solar disc may be seen on most clear-day Sunsets, although the flash or ray effects require a stronger layering of the atmosphere and a mirage, which serves to magnify the green from a fraction of a second to a couple of seconds. A Green Flash also may be observed in association with the Moon and bright planets at the horizon, including Venus and Jupiter.

While observing at the Vatican Observatory in 1960, D.K.J. O'Connell produced the first colour photographs of a Green Flash at Sunset.  With an unrestricted view of the horizon, Green Flashes are regularly seen by airline pilots, particularly when flying westwards as the Sunset is slowed. If the atmosphere is layered the Green Flash may appear in a series - at extreme angles a secondary flash can be seen, and at least one observer claims to have witnessed a triple Green Flash.

Just like rainbows, auroras and solar halos, the beauty of Green Flashes awaits those who go out and look for them.
