Recently Australian ABC television aired an episode of the science program Catalyst, which demonstrated through tests that getting bright Sunlight outdoors can prevent shortsightedness or myopia, and may even slow the progression of existing cases[1]. There are a number of factors in being outside, as opposed to getting bright artificial indoor light, that could offer a protective effect. There's UV radiation, vitamin D from sunlight, and even the opportunity to stare into the distance. With the Sun, it's the brightness of the light that makes all the difference. Any time spent outdoors is beneficial - whether being physically active or not active is irrelevant in terms of providing the protective effect, according to the tests.

The reason bright light helps is due to the way our eyes adjust to day and night. Our vision is received via receptors called cones and rods at the back of our retinas. When you go out at night, you go to what's referred to as your rod vision, your black and white, grainy scale vision. This allows the eye to take as much light as possible and generates an image out of it, but by doing so you lose that fine detail. During the day, cone cells in our eyes give us incredible detail, colour and high definition images. To switch from our rod cells to our cone cells requires a neurotransmitter called retinal dopamine, the release of which is triggered by light. During the day when you go out into the Sunlight, what happens is that dopamine levels go up, turning off the rod pathway so that the dopamine system stops the signal being diffused anymore and allows very fine tuning of the system, and that's what allows us to see fine detail. It's this release of dopamine that appears to be one of the key signals to stop eyes from elongating.

What is this elongation all about? As you get older, your eyeball grows longer and your focus gets shorter. But these days it's a phenomenon happening to more and more children as well. Their eyeballs grow abnormally into an elongated shape causing light rays from the distance to focus in front of the retina rather than on it, resulting in a blurred image. When you look at faraway objects, the lenses of your eyes bend parallel rays of light at an angle so that a sharp image is created on the back of your eye. To look at near objects, the internal lens needs to get rounder to bend the rays at a more acute angle. As you get older, your lens loses flexibility and its ability to curve more. That's why reading gets harder and harder. But when you're myopic, it's the distance that becomes blurry.

Although a well-lit room might feel nice and bright, the reality is it's very dim compared to daylight. A well-lit classroom is usually between around 500 to 1,000 lux, nowhere near bright enough to trigger the amount of dopamine needed. What the eye needs is three hours a day at 40,000 lux. 40,000 lux in Australia would be the equivalent of either a winter's day or a cloudy day. In Europe, that can actually be the intensity you see even in a summer's day.

In China, a three-year trial was carried out, where 40 minutes were added to the school day so the students could be out in bright Sunlight, resulting in a 25% reduction in new cases of myopia. At another trial in Taiwan they had 80 minutes a day and they got 50% protection.

Being afraid of Sun damage is no reason not to give your children outdoor exposure. Even with the standard protection (hats, sunglasses etc) they'll still be getting enough light into their eyes because of the huge difference between indoor and outdoor lighting.

Just another way that the Sun meets our physical needs, when we let it in.

There are two unsolved mysteries from the famous Fatima incident, almost a century ago.

First: The Miracle of the Sun, which occurred just after midday on Sunday 13 October 1917, witnessed by a large crowd gathered near Fátima, Portugal. Estimates of the number of people present range from between 30,000 to 40,000 (by Avelino de Almeida, writing for the Portuguese newspaper O Século), to 100,000 (estimated by Dr. Joseph Garrett, professor of natural sciences at the University of Coimbra), both of whom were present on that day, along with several newspaper reporters who took testimony from those who saw the extraordinary solar activity. The event was visible by onlookers up to 18 kilometres away, precluding the theory of a collective hallucination or mass hysteria, and Pope Pius XII himself witnessed the Miracle of the Sun from the Vatican gardens. Of the very many vivid accounts recorded by the noted Father John De Marchi, here are a couple of examples:
“The silver Sun, enveloped in the same gauzy grey light, was seen to whirl and turn in the circle of broken clouds ... The light turned a beautiful blue, as if it had come through the stained-glass windows of a cathedral, and spread itself over the people who knelt with outstretched hands.” (By a reporter for the Lisbon newspaper O Dia);
“As if like a bolt from the blue, the clouds were wrenched apart, and the Sun at its zenith appeared in all its splendour. It began to revolve vertiginously on its axis, like the most magnificent firewheel that could be imagined, taking on all the colours of the rainbow and sending forth multicoloured flashes of light, producing the most astounding effect. This sublime and incomparable spectacle, which was repeated three distinct times, lasted for about ten minutes.” (By priest Dr Manuel Formigão).

Second mystery: The Third Secret given by Mary to the children at Fatima has not been revealed to the public, in defiance of her instructions that it was to be made known in 1960. Pope John 23rd read it that year and locked it away. In 1984, Cardinal Ratzinger (later to become the Pope who resigned) claimed to have read it, and said it concurred with Apocalyptic scripture. When he visited the Fatima shrine in 2010, he said, “We would be mistaken to think that the prophetic mission of Fatima is complete.” Pope Francis plans to visit the shrine on its centennial next year.
In a New Dawn article this month titled Converging Prophecy[1] , Warren Aston reminds us of the predictions of St Malachy (12th Century) telling us the Francis will be the last Pope. He compares this to a Jewish Rabbi of the same period, Judah Ben Samuel, who made predictions in fifty-year ‘Jubilee’ periods, from 1517 to 2017, with 2017 signifying the beginning of the Messianic end time. Aston points out that it is a leap of faith for any writer to predict that something will happen on a specific date. I think it is an even braver person who would claim that humanity can just expect the status quo to continue in the coming decade, ‘the same, only more so.’ There is a strong sense that something has to give, be it nuclear or biological war, economic collapse, viral outbreaks, natural disaster, pole shift, terrorism, ET contact, transhumanism or failed scientific experimentation or… Messianic intervention. Only if NONE of these things happens, will we continue just as we are.

Should we expect another supernatural Solar event in 2017?  Many believe so.

Abu Gurab (also spelt Abu Ghurab, Abu Gurob and Abu Jirab) is an ancient Egyptian archaeological site. Egyptologists call it a ‘Sun temple’ and say it was built for the purpose of honouring Ra (it was never used as a burial place), by Nyuserre Ini, the sixth king of the 5th Dynasty, around 2420 BC. But according Abd’El Hakim Awyan, an acclaimed teacher of the sacred mysteries of Khemet,(the early name for Egypt), ancient Khemetian oral tradition says Abu Ghurab was already ancient by the time of the 5th Dynasty[1]

A limestone obelisk once stood atop this mound, with a pyramid-shaped cap called a ben-ben.  Egyptologists say it was over fifty metres tall and was modelled after the Sun temple at On (or Heliopolis), the site where Akhenaten was initiated in the esoteric mysteries. Pieces of this original obelisk are scattered all over the place. Hakim claims that the site dates deep into pre-history and is one of the oldest ceremonial sites on the entire planet. Moreover, he says the site was designed to create heightened spiritual awareness through the use of vibrations transmitted through the alabaster and other materials. This expanded awareness enabled one to connect with the sacred energies or invisible beings known as Neters. It seems Hakim is describing what is called a Sun-gate portal today.[2] In Land of Osiris, author Stephen Mehler notes that indigenous tradition teaches that the Neters themselves, in some sort of physical form, once ‘landed’ and appeared in person at Abu Ghurab.

Other researchers say that this was actually a power plant, producing piezoelectricity by the effect of pumped water acting with mica in the ground, and the quartz crystal-laden red granite obelisk becoming a wireless energy transmitter. I believe this was one of the earliest Sun Tower electric energy source stations.

A new video posted on You Tube by The Thunderbolts Project (thunderbolts.info) on 13th April 2016, examines how Venus was described by ancient peoples, and how it fits the theory of Immanuel Velikovsky in his book “Worlds in Collision.” Velikovsky theorised that Venus was a comet that originally came from Jupiter and was captured into its present orbit in about 1500 BC. That would explain why ancient peoples such as the Babylonians and Peruvians described it as a fiery streak. Thunderbolts observe that Venus has a comet-like magneto-tail of plasma and it is now connected to the Sun by magnetic flux ropes.

It is said elsewhere that “The Solar Brotherhood was first brought to Earth from Venus by adepts known as the Kumaras, a name which has the meaning of "androgenous Serpents." You can find references to the Kumaras in the Hindu Puranas where they are described as being the first teachers of Yoga on the plane[1].”
C.W. Leadbeater and later adherents of Theosophy such as Alice A. Bailey believe that Sanat Kumara descended from the etheric plane of the planet Venus to Earth, while the ancient Buddhist temple, Kurama-dera in Japan, is host to a unique bodhisattva, the ‘Defender Lord’, who is said to come from the planet Venus[2].

Author Maurice Cotterell, in several of his books, talks about a group of historical figures he calls ‘The Supergods,’ who were all said to have come from, and returned to, the “bright star” Venus. These include Krishna, Buddha and Jesus, as well as Tutankhamun and Lord Pacal (also incarnated as Viracocha). Specifically he says, “When Krishna was born, a bright star appeared in the sky. Buddha, it was said, was a bright star in his mother’s womb and when Jesus was born a bright star appeared in the sky. Revelation (xxii, 16) goes further, saying: ‘I Jesus … am the root of David, and the bright and morning star.[3]’

I have speculated elsewhere that our moon seems to have been put in its place intelligently and purposefully. Could the same be true of Venus?

There are a great many references on various websites stating that the name of the ancient King Solomon comprises three syllables, all meaning Sun. Now of course his name was given in Hebrew, but it is possible that it was chosen with regard for esoteric meaning by his father David, who foresaw that the eldest son Absalom would never be king, and that Solomon was destined to be a great and wise leader, as recorded in what turns out to be the most comprehensive ancient book we have.

Here is how the name Solomon is said to be constructed in English: SOL-OM-ON, Sol is Latin for the Sun, Om is Hindi Sanskrit for the Sun, and On means Sun in Egyptian.

According to Gnostics, SOL-OM-ON is the threefold androgynous Spiritual Sun, called the Holy Trinity. All aspects or divisions in three originating in any religious or esoteric teachings are said to be due to the threefold constitution of Cosmos.

SOL - solar aspect of the newly risen Sun - on the East
OM - the Sun shining on zenith, the highest point on horizon (the South)
ON - the diminishing Sun, sunset on the West

If this theory is correct, Solomon is to be counted among the many great and legendary “Sun Kings.” Furthermore, due to different dating methods having been used by ancient cultures, some contend that if applying the Sothic cycle, it could be that Solomon actually lived in the same period as the Sun King Akhenaten in Egypt[i]. An interesting possibility to contemplate!

Two Columbia University astronomers, Professor David Kipping and graduate student Alex Teachey, suggest humanity could use lasers to conceal the Earth from searches by advanced extraterrestrial civilisations. David comments: "There is an ongoing debate as to whether we should advertise ourselves or hide from advanced civilisations potentially living on planets elsewhere in the Galaxy. Our work offers humanity a choice, at least for transit events, and we should think about what we want to do." Several prominent scientists, including Stephen Hawking, have cautioned against humanity broadcasting our presence to intelligent life on other planets.

The two authors of the new study suggest that controlled laser emission could be used to mask transits - the dips in light when a planet moves directly in front of the star it orbits – which is the same technique we use to search for exoplanets.  Given that humanity is already capable of modifying transit signals, it may just be that aliens have had the same thought. The two scientists propose that the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), which mostly currently looks for alien radio signals, could be broadened to search for artificial transits.

The Sun is a primordial symbol, represented by ancient peoples simply as a circle with a dot at its centre. It also sits at the centre of other symbols: the winged disc, the source of Solar rays (themselves symbolised in menhirs and obelisks), the monastic tonsure of the head, haloes above holy people and Solar crosses, as well at the centre of concentric circles or labyrinths such as those at Nazca. As the 19th card in the major arcana of the Tarot, it symbolises the dual gifts of light and heat – the rain of gold pouring out from it represents spiritual riches and the philosopher’s gold of the initiated alchemist.

The Sun features on the national flags of the Antigua & Barbuda, the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Nepal, Tibet, Argentina, Uruguay, Bangladesh, Macedonia, Kiribati, Kazakhstan, Kurdistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The Sun has always been used as a symbol of deities and powerful leaders. To quote from the Book of Symbols, “ It gave rise to Hinduism and Islam, Sabeism (star worship), and the esotericism of Zoroaster, to Sufism, Pantheism, the worship of Baal, Helios, Sab (“the Very-High”), Zeus, Apollo, Jupiter, Amun, Horus, Osiris, Harpocrates, Toum, Memom, Cronos, Shamash, Haraktes, Phoebus, Bel (meaning high, chief, king, lord, master), Ashur, Adod, Jehovah, Mithras, Viracocha….”[i]

At the very heart of all this symbolism is the fact that the Sun, as the life-giving source at the centre of our Solar System, has always been seen as the physical manifestation of God, the Invisible and the Spiritual - a symbol of the First Cause.

Vigilant Citizen (VC) has published an article about the late David Bowie on his website[i] and in it, he in turn quotes from Manly P. Hall, when asserting that the name of Bowie’s final album, Blackstar, was a reference to his (Bowie’s) occult studies.
VC says, “The name of the album itself, Blackstar, refers to an important occult concept: the Midnight Sun,” before going on to quote thus from Manly P Hall:.
    “Apuleius said when describing his initiation (vide ante): “At midnight I saw the sun shining with a splendid light.” The midnight sun was also part of the mystery of alchemy. It symbolized the spirit in man shining through the darkness of his human organisms. It also referred to the spiritual sun in the solar system, which the mystic could see as well at midnight as at high noon, the material earth being powerless to obstruct the rays of this Divine orb. The mysterious lights which illuminated the temples of the Egyptian Mysteries during the nocturnal hours were said by some to be reflections of the spiritual sun gathered by the magical powers of the priests. The weird light seen ten miles below the surface of the earth by I-AM-THE-MAN in that remarkable Masonic allegory Etidorhpa (Aphrodite spelt backward) may well refer to the mysterious midnight sun of the ancient rites.”

I have looked at the relevant part of Manly P Hall’s book and, interestingly, he goes on to write in the same chapter, on the subject of the Sun’s colour:
“According to esoteric philosophy, blue is the true and sacred colour of the Sun. The apparent orange-yellow shade of this orb is the result of its rays being immersed in the substances of the illusionary world.” He adds that this is why certain gods in India are depicted with blue skin
.
I, like many others of my age-group, drew a lot of inspiration and enjoyment from David Bowie’s works, and Blackstar is indeed a fitting finale from him!

In our part of the universe it is more common for beings of the humanoid variety to dwell under the surface of planets, with Earth being the notable exception. Our Solar Ancestors cultivated our planet, more or less as an experiment, to become a terrestrial aboveground sanctuary for flora and fauna. Some of our closest neighbouring planets host subterranean civilizations, including those on Mars (and its artificial moon Phobos) as discussed by scholar Alfred Lambremont Webre in his renowned Exopolitics Blogs, calling them Homo Martis Terris, - coined by Andrew D. Basiago.[i] And a 2013 paper titled ‘Circumstellar Habitable Zones for Deep Terrestrial Biospheres,’ released by scientists at the University of Aberdeen & University of St Andrews, Scotland, reveals the ability of life to exist inside worlds with extreme surface conditions, such as the extremely hot planets Venus and Mercury.[ii]

In recent years Dr. Alexander Koltypin, a geologist, and director of the Natural Science Research Center at Moscow’s International Independent University of Ecology and Politology, has been studying numerous ancient Earthly underground structures, mainly around the Mediterranean. Writing on his website, Dr. Koltypin states: “When we examined the constructions… none of us never for a moment had a doubt that they are much older than the ruins of the Canaanite, Philistine, Hebraic, Roman, Byzantine, and other cities and settlements that are placed on it and around.”[iii] He further concluded that “the underground cities of Cappadocia (including Tatlarin rock city) [were] intended for the accommodation of the ordinary population and the rock city of Cavusin was the residence of the kings of underground. Though almost nothing is known about subterranean [life], nevertheless we can assume that the people who built the underground cities (if they even were men) were Sun-worshipers, professed religion of Sun gods (harmony and life by the Divine principles – nature laws).”

Dr. Koltypin refers to similar accounts seen at the Yonaguni Monument near Japan and suggests that the similarity seen in numerous megalithic ruins around the world is evidence of a profound connection present in ancient sites, connected in one giant prehistoric complex. Much of his website is either in Russian or translated in poor English, which is a shame, because other pages talk about the ‘Mysterious dungeons of Tibet, Gobi desert and Hindustan,’ ‘Subglacial and underground cavities of Antarctica & Arctic,’ ‘Dungeons of Oceania islands, links between America and Asia’ and ‘Underground labyrinths of South America,’ which I have also written about elsewhere.

In the centre of the Mato Grosso, at the city of Cuiaba in Brazil, there are numerous accounts of subterranean cities and ancient civilizations consisting of white-skinned, golden haired people who are the true first Brazilians – our Solar Ancestors. There is said to be a network of tunnels connecting this underground world with Tiahuanaco, Nazca and other major sites on the continent.  In fact, to quote from the writings of Dr Raymond Bernard: “It is claimed that the earth is honeycombed with a network of tunnels, which are especially abundant in South America; and that these tunnels lead to subterranean cities in immense cavities in the earth. Most famous of these tunnels is the `Roadway of the Incas' which is said to stretch for several hundreds of miles south of Lima, Peru via Cuzco, Tiahuanaco and the Three Peaks, going on to the Atacama Desert where all traces of it is lost. Another branch runs to Brazil, where it is connected by tunnels to the coast.”[iv]

The interesting point is that these spring from civilizations who were were well-versed in the Solar sciences. Subterranean societies continue to revere the Sun – it is not necessary to be a surface dweller to do so. The fact some of the Solar beings manifest in our dimension as white-skinned fair-haired people, means they often prefer to be underground while temporarily on Earth.

In ancient symbolism, the lion was the animal chosen to represent the Sun, divine energy and spiritual power. Sometimes it formed part of a “tetra-morph,” a celestial creature combining the lion, bull, bird and human attributes, particularly to the Egyptians, Greeks and Babylonians. The Sphinx in Egypt combines a lion’s body with a human head. In India, the Buddha is said to occupy a throne called Simhasana supported by lions, (from Sanskrit simha meaning lion and āsana meaning seat), and Vishnu had the ability to change himself into a lion. In the Wutai Mountain in Shanxi, China, the Manju-shri Bodhisattva called Wen Shu Shih-Li is represented as the golden-maned celestial lion. Jesus has been called the Lion of Judah. The lion has been adopted as the emblem of kings, used on coats of arms and used by banks and other commercial enterprises.

In Central and South America, where there are no lions, the jaguar represented the Solar divinity, and the jaguar-deity Ai Apaec was seen by the Maya, Inca and Aztecs “to embody the golden Sun”. He had a cat-like face and was covered in brown spots (Sun spots).

Was it just fanciful that ancient cultures connected these great felines with the Sun? No, it was our Solar Ancestors themselves who chose them as good examples of the dual nature of the visible orb of the Sun: both creative and destructive; majestic and ferocious; generous and demanding; serving and dominating – this same duality also exists within the human psyche. Ancient fifth-dimensional Solar entities sometimes manifested themselves as a combination of human and animal. The intention was to stand out from mortal humans, and they chose creatures that demonstrated qualities aligned with their own particular character. Most famously, the Solar deity Sekhmet, daughter of Ra, manifested herself with the head of a lioness. She bore the Solar disk and the Uraeus, indicating the authority of the Eye of Ra. She was the protector of the pharaohs and led them in warfare as a divine arbiter of Ma'at (Justice, or Order), making the leonine symbol most fitting.
