It is not the purpose of this website to instruct readers about waking the Kundalini, although we are happy to provide this link to Raja’s program at The Shift Network. In essence, Raja teaches that before raising the Kundalini energy right up to the crown, one must first ‘ground’ their lower three chakras - then open the sphere of the second Sun around the heart. He visualizes a tiny little pearl at the centre of the heart as being the soul – many other teachers use this or similar metaphors – Dr Paul Brunton used to call it the soul atom.
Raja says that when the central Sun of the heart is opened, a “golden egg” – sometimes seen as a “white Orb” – will surround the person, and we can agree with that. In addition to mediation, incorporating breathing “from the stomach,” it is helpful for practitioners to intone sounds or mantras. He recommends the word “SHREEM” for the Central Sun of the heart. Other websites such as MindValleyAcademy.com and MindBodyGreen.com suggest the sound “YAM” (alternatively pronounced “YUM.”)
We always advise that seekers use whatever resonates well within them. Although some prefer to reserve the sound “OM” for the higher chakras, it is a good standard that resonates well with many of us for all chakras. Raja’s “Central Sun” of the heart chakra obviously corresponds to what we at Solar Ancestor refer to as the “Solar Heart.” As noted on the Chopra.com website, the mantra, “OM MANI PADME HUM” is also especially useful for drawing in the qualities associated with the heart: compassion, acceptance, forgiveness and love.
