The following quotations are allegedly taken from an interview conducted by journalist John Smith with the scientist Nikola Tesla in his laboratory in Colorado Springs in the year 1899 for the magazine “Immortality”. Its authenticity has been disputed online by some who claim it is really taken from a 1990s play, 'Tesla or Customizing of Angels', by a Serbian playwright, Stevan Pešić. I present these brief passages here for their interesting comments on the Sun.

❝ Do you know how I discovered the rotating magnetic field and the induction motor, which made me famous when I was 26? One summer afternoon in Budapest, I saw the sunset with my friend. Thousands of fires circled thousands of flaming colors. I remembered Faust and recited his verses and then, as in a fog, I saw the magnetic field and the induction motor spin. I saw them in the Sun!❞

❝ Everything is light. In one of its rays is the fate of nations. Each nation has its own ray in that great source of light that we see that it is the Sun. And remember that there is no man that has existed and has not died! It became light and as such still exists. The secret lies in the fact that the particles of light restore their original state.❞ (Nikola Tesla)

I have a connection with the great philosopher, teacher and inventor Empedocles, who lived in southern Sicily from 495BC to 435BC. He was the first in history to speak of the Four Elements. So I was intrigued to read this from the person who claimed to interview Tesla:
In the laboratory of Nikola Tesla for the first time an atom has been broken. A weapon has been created that produces seismic vibrations. There, black cosmic rays were discovered. Five races will pray to him in the temple of the future, because he has taught them a great secret: that the elements of Empedocles can be watered with the life forces of the ethers. In Issue 24 of our online magazine, Australian Esoteric, our regular writer on the Tarot, Sean Cooper, contributed an article which was mainly about the Hanged Man card, and in turn made several mentions of its connection to the Sun card (these are both included in the Major Arcana of the Tarot Deck. Below are three excerpts which are thought-provoking:

❝ The Sun shows a successful conclusion – positivity and joy at the beginning of an exciting new chapter after the previous uncertainty of the journey to this point. Most importantly, The Sun is childlike, open to ideas and opportunities. We have moved from the constraints of dogma and orthodoxy with the Hierophant to a new stage in The Sun where the possibilities are endless and hope prevails. This transition was made possible through what The Hanged Man does – withdraw, and look at things from another angle. […]

❝ The reflective aspect of water tells us that the act of suspension is also an excellent opportunity for some self-examination. The outcome, The Sun, is the antithesis of this. As a solution, The Sun represents direct light instead of the reflected light intimated in cards like The Hanged Man and The Moon. Getting to this point, though, is often a process of withdrawal and reflection to get to the outcome of engagement and illumination. The Sun's Hebrew letter is Resh, meaning head and face. This is in direct contract to its previous card The Moon (Qoph -the back of the head, or subconscious). The Moon and The Hanged Man both tell us that getting to the direct light of The Sun is achieved through journeying through the subconscious. […]

❝ The Hanged Man offers a badly needed reminder that it might be time to get off the treadmill and engage in some introspection instead. The Hanged Man is a sign that we've entered the gateway, leaving behind the Hierophant's limiting orthodoxy and heading towards the hope and joy of The Sun. When he enters our readings, we should listen to The Hanged Man because he's there to tell us that we're nearly there, that when we free ourselves, we can embrace The Sun. We should ask ourselves what we can do to re-evaluate our situation in a fresh way and have that "Eureka!" breakthrough moment. And we should recognize that to pass the gateway sometimes means looking within. ❞

Rudolph Steiner had much to say about Beings on the Sun, including our Star’s connection with the Christ.

"My dear friends, when the pupils of the old initiates looked out into the wide universe and spoke of what they saw living out there beyond the Earth in the workings of the Sun, yes, in the Sun itself — when they spoke of the sublime Spirit-Being of the Sun as proclaimed by Zarathustra, they were speaking of the very same Being Whom, in these later times, we designate as Christ." — Rudolf Steiner, MAN'S LIFE ON EARTH AND IN THE SPIRITUAL WORLDS (Health Research Books, 1960), pp. 14-15.

“The Sun was itself a kind of being of air, surrounded by that substance which had previously formed Saturn-fire, warmth. The part that had densified had formed the gaseous Sun, and what had not densified was a surging sea of fire. These beings could live on the Sun and inhale and exhale warmth, fire; they were therefore called the Spirits of Fire. They stood at the human level on the Sun and they worked in the service of humanity. One calls them Sun Spirits or Fire Spirits. Man at that time was at the stage of sleep-consciousness, the Sun-Fire Spirits had already the ego consciousness. Since then they too have developed further and ascended to higher degrees of consciousness. One calls them in Christian Esotericism Archangels. And the highest evolved Spirit Who was on the Sun as Fire Spirit, Who today is still active upon the Earth, with very highly evolved consciousness, this Sun or Fire Spirit is the Christ. In the same way the most evolved Saturn Spirit is the Father God.

There is an interesting article online about Sirius. It contains some inaccuracies (and misspellings) but does convey some interesting information about the Sirius star system. They write:
An example of this can be seen in ancient Egypt. The priests would tell the surfs (sic) (men whom worked the land) that the sun was “god.”  Although most priests believed that the physical sun was not actually the “supreme being” itself, but instead was the spirit which flowed through the physical sun. However, there was even another level that the priests didn’t even know about… and that highest level of priests knew that although spiritual energy goes through the sun, the original source of everything comes from the star Sirius. In other words, just like how the sun keeps our physical world alive, Sirius keeps the spiritual world alive. It’s associated with the divine and even considered as the home of humanity’s “great teachers.”

They add this quote:
“This ancient people (Egyptians) knew that once every year the Parent Sun is in line with the Dog Star. Therefore, the Great Pyramid was so constructed that, at this sacred moment, the light of the Dog Star fell upon the square “Stone of God” at the upper end of the Great Gallery, descending upon the head of the high priest, who received the Super Solar Force and sought through his own perfected Solar Body to transmit to other Initiates this added stimulation for the evolution of their Godhood. Recently we have drawn comparisons between the macrocosm and the microcosm, the Sun and atoms. We could also include ourselves in the mix – some refer to humanity as the meta-cosm.

Here on the 3D physical plane, we ask ourselves what holds material entities together. When it comes to observing galaxies, we see that the laws of gravity cannot explain why their spiral arms to do not tear away into space, so scientists have suggested the strong nuclear force or even dark matter. At the Thunderbolts Project they would suggest an electrodynamic force. At Solar Ancestor we conceive of entities as having a Field that contains them. But what about non-material entities such as soul and spirit – what holds them together? And then, what binds them to our physical body?

There is a school of thought known as Spiritism and it proposes a subtle body called the Perispirit, the semi-material envelope of the spirit that combines with our body at birth and detaches from our physical body upon death. It is referred to as an ‘envelope’ that cloaks the spiritual being.

We have observed before that it is easy to get tripped up on terminology. Let’s say the Perispirit is the vaporous etheric body that connects body with Spirit (aka the Astral double, or Ka), which in turn is connected to our gossamer-like Ba or Soul-personality (often called the Overself).  The Perispirit is said to be drawn from the universal fluid.

The Perispirit also allows the Spirit to interact with the physical world. In the material world, discarnate Spirits can use it to make sounds, make things move, and can make themselves visible and tangible to our touch. For those who like to study ancient writings of the Sumerians and the Hebrew Bible, you would have to wonder how it was possible for the Watchers and the sons of the gods to couple with humans (as in Genesis and Enoch). The Perispirit would have allowed them to do so.

Some mystical teachers talk about meeting their higher self (read inner self, Overself) as a separate entity. Others talk about a mystical marriage that must take place within us. One order tells us we have a “master within.” A teacher I admire very much talked about first meeting his inner, authentic self as a Golden Angel appearing before him. And it is interesting to consider the well-known poems of Rumi might be written about the “twin self.”

In a recent article in New Dawn Magazine (Vol.13 No.2), we are told about the experience of Olga Kharitidi who was taken into apprenticeship by a female Siberian shaman called Umai, high in the Altai Mountains. It says: Later she (Umai) tells Olga the “greatest secret.” We have the task of constructing two things while we are in our physical lives – the physical reality in which we live and the creation of ourselves. Keeping the balance between the two is a very sacred and demanding art. Every human has a Spirit Twin, or Spirit Guide, who inhabits their inner space. There are seven kinds of these Spirit Twins: Healer, Magus, Teacher, Messenger, Protector, Warrior, and Executor – one who makes things happen.[1]

My experience is that while our twin spiritual counterpart may appear as being separate from us, our goal is to reunite with this part of ourself and become one. When the two become one, we are complete and at peace. Hence the need to love ourselves  - all parts of ourself – unconditionally. Keep in mind that, if you haven’t met this Twin yet, “it” is right beside you, within the electro-magnetic sphere of your being, and your Spirit Twin also has the goal of integrating with you.

Says Umai, “One of our most important tasks is to learn the identity of our Spirit Twin and then to integrate ourselves fully with it.”[2]

Since our own Solar System consists of the Sun in the middle with eight smaller planets rotating around it in their orbits, and the element Oxygen has a nucleus and eight smaller electrons rotating around it in their orbits, people have speculated that perhaps atoms are like tiny solar systems. Likewise, perhaps our solar system is an atom in some larger form.

However, atoms are governed by quantum physics, held together by electromagnetism instead of gravity. According to quantum mechanics, tiny objects like electrons do not have precise trajectories. Rather, they must be described by quantum waves of probability. Yet the quantum and classical realms must join smoothly, so somehow the rippling quantum waves must be able to mimic a “classical trajectory” (i.e., same as a solar system).

In the 1920s, the inventors of quantum mechanics dismissed the notion that the system of an atom behaves like a tiny solar system. This was because they observed that while planets orbit the Sun in elliptical orbits, the electrons of an atom seem to hover around the nucleus in diffuse cloud-like waves (known as orbitals), that describe only the probability of finding the electron at different places. But those orbitals can combine to form a clump-like “wave packet” that contains the electrons and does orbit the nucleus like a planet, researchers report in the 2 April PRL. Atoms have the same physical properties as planetary systems, which is evident in Bohr’s equation where he equated the electromagnetic force to the centrifugal force.

In our Weekly Bulletin on 14 Dec 2018 The Spheres of the Upper Air, it was stated, “There have been “places” spoken of throughout history that are not places in the physical sense, but actually exist on a higher plane. These include Hyperborea, Mount Meru, the abodes of Masters over Tibet and the Gobi Desert, and the mythical Twelve Lost Islands of Hawaii.      Ancient teachers, often called Deities, came and went from such places.”

In a more recent Bulletin on 09 Mar 2019 The Invisible Spheres, we looked at assertions by some that “the Monastery of the Brotherhood of the Seven Rays (exists) in the region above Lake Titicaca in South America, and that a monastery (was found) called The Abbey in a hidden valley of Pariahuanca.” [“There is also said to be a hidden land somewhere in the East called Agarttha, beneath the surface of the earth.”]

The latest New Dawn magazine, Special Issue Vol.13 No.2, features a couple of articles that shed more light on this topic. In Opening the Gate to Belovodia by Jason Jeffrey, we read about Olga Kharitidi’s journey to the Altai where she learned of the ethereal “place” called Belovodia. The Altai is a mountain range in Central and East Asia, where Russia, China, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan come together - the subject of a number of paintings by the mystic Nicholas Roerich who travelled widely there.

In another article in the same issue of ND, In Search of Invisible Masters by Mehmet Sabeheddin, we are told that the great Masters (the Silent Brotherhood, Mahatmas, Magi, Rishis) have “been physically located in the Hindu Kush area (which) is in Afghanistan, geographically, it forms the Western extreme of the Himalayas.” Certain other mystical traditions locate at least some of the Invisible Masters in the etheric planes above the Gobi Desert.
